Glyn Strong
Glyn Strong is a journalist and former Assistant Director of PR at the Ministry of Defence where she headed the Publicity area of the Directorate General Media and Communication. Before that she held a series of senior communication posts within the Armed Forces.
Glyn has worked as a writer, researcher and sub-editor on national, regional, local and specialist publications in the UK and overseas.
She has spent lengthy periods in hostile environments, running civilian/military news teams in Bosnia and Kuwait and working on assignments in Afghanistan, the Falkland Islands, Hungary, Kosovo, Germany, Italy and Holland. Through work or curiosity she has visited more than 40 countries.
A qualified teacher of English and Communication Studies, Glyn has also been involved in the delivery of media training.
In 2002 she was awarded an MA in Public Communication for her work on The Effect of Media Reportage on Combat Effectiveness and Gender and holds professional and/or academic qualifications in English, Journalism, Education and Public Relations.
She has worked with the BBC and a variety of independent documentary makers - including partners David Naden and Torquil Boyd - and collaborated with Tim Callaway on multi-media web projects and facilities since 1998.
Outside her project management role with MFG Glyn operates as a freelance writer and media/PR consultant specialising in ethical, gender, defence and human interest features.
